Lesson 26 · Transport

NAT and port translation

Your home has many devices but only one public IPv4 address. Follow a laptop and a phone as the router swaps their private addresses (192.168.1.10, 192.168.1.11) for its public one (203.0.113.7), gives each conversation its own public port, and swaps the replies back. Then see why a stranger's packet gets dropped.
